Summary

Ekhart Tolle's message is simple: living in the now is the truest path to happiness and enlightenment。 And while this message may not seem stunningly original or fresh, Tolle's clear writing, supportive voice and enthusiasm make this an excellent manual for anyone who's ever wondered what exactly "living in the now" means。 Foremost, Tolle is a world-class teacher, able to explain complicated concepts in concrete language。 More importantly, within a chapter of reading this book, readers are already holding the world in a different container--more conscious of how thoughts and emotions get in the way of their ability to live in genuine peace and happiness。

Tolle packs a lot of information and inspirational ideas into The Power of Now。 (Topics include the source of Chi, enlightened relationships, creative use of the mind, impermanence and the cycle of life。) Thankfully, he's added markers that symbolise "break time"。 This is when readers should close the book and mull over what they just read。 As a result, The Power of Now reads like the highly acclaimed A Course in Miracles--a spiritual guidebook that has the potential to inspire just as many study groups and change just as many lives for the better。 --Gail Hudson

I love this book it has helped me change my perspective on life, however towards the end it became a bit too religion led for me! But it’s essentially a 5 star read this was just personal preference 🥰

an eye opener in the form of question and answer。 This book will cover all your questions or doubt。 should be read and follow。

Took me ages to read。 It brings a lot of interesting concepts to light however some of them do require yo to suspend your belief and really challenge you to embrace new and uncomfortable ideas。

The main premise of this book is an important one, but the writing style was extremely difficult for me to read and it was very repetitive。

Un libro que nos recuerda la importancia de estar presentes, de disfrutar el momento para entender nuestro poder interior。

A book everyone ought to read。

This book is not for everyone and there r reviews on how the author basically says to just “stop thinking “ but that is not true completely。 if you really read this book it can truly be awakening to some if you r an open person。 this book basically gives everyone a different message whatever you take or leave from it。 i still recommended reading it because it can be different for everyone

At first I didn't find interest to read but after reading some other books related to spiritually it is understanble I guess。 Finishing the book makes me realize that we all really need to understand our conscious self。。。there is no other way around it。 This the best guide book for modern functioning life。 All thanks to the writer! Re-read the book after a decade。First time when I was reading it, I thought "what a total crap" - I guess I could not understand the concepts that Eckhart Tolle was elaborating in the book。His mastery is that there are no complex concepts, there is no difficult vocabulary, there is no thesis that you need to analyze。 It's just the pure power of now。 The more I read, the more I admire simplicity。 Basically, completely contra intuitively - only by abandoning our mind we can actually understand the Re-read the book after a decade。First time when I was reading it, I thought "what a total crap" - I guess I could not understand the concepts that Eckhart Tolle was elaborating in the book。His mastery is that there are no complex concepts, there is no difficult vocabulary, there is no thesis that you need to analyze。 It's just the pure power of now。 The more I read, the more I admire simplicity。 Basically, completely contra intuitively - only by abandoning our mind we can actually understand the world better。 The more we are immersed in now, the more free are from anticipatory anxiety and ruminative depression。 For some, it is really strong enlightenment that persists, and for some it is a spiritual practice of brining your self back from slavery of the mind, that goes back and forth。 But oh, man - when you are liberated from mind - the real beauty arises! 。。。more

I could not actually finish it in the end, but I tried so hard and both read it and listened to it so I’m not counting it as DNF。 I like the idea and the concept but the book is painful to get through。 I was willing to overlook the God thing and think of it as Power instead or whatever the author suggested, but then when you’re just straight up talking about Jesus and Bible stories I just have 0 interest。

I have tried starting this book a couple times, during different times of my life since I received my copy so long ago。 I just cannot seem to get into it。 In my opinion, it is rather dull, it doesn’t read well, and it’s slow, etc。 Not for me at all。 Maybe one day I will actually finish it, but I will not hold my breath。 For now, it is staying far down in the bottom of my pile。

A detailed delve into what it means to be present。 Repetitive (I think that was the point) but very eye opening if you ask me:)

The first time I read this I didn’t quite get it until I read it a 2nd time。

This book definitely helped me through a more rough patch in my life。 If you’re someone who is constantly in your head thinking about absolute nonsense or just going through a more still / stagnant period I highly recommend reading this book。

I got halfway through it and then found that I was hardly making any effort to finish it。To be honest, I found it a bit boring。 Each small chapter read the same to me。 I didn't feel like I was learning anything。I agree with the theory behind what Tolle talks about but this book was not for me。Did not finish。 I got halfway through it and then found that I was hardly making any effort to finish it。To be honest, I found it a bit boring。 Each small chapter read the same to me。 I didn't feel like I was learning anything。I agree with the theory behind what Tolle talks about but this book was not for me。Did not finish。 。。。more

learning to Listen to the Space in Between This is a powerful book that needs to be re-read and slowly digested over time as a reminder that nothing exists outside of the present - the Now。 There is no suffering, no pain, anxiety, or anger。 All of these emotions are derived from the pain body in us that focuses on either the past (a figment of our imagination) or the future (a plane that doesn’t exist)。

One of the best book ever

If my personality was water, this way of thinking is oil。 Not a fun read and felt very disorganized and a little fluffy。 I also felt parts were a little antiquated or even misogynistic。 But here are the few key points that resonated with me。 First, I am not my thoughts。 Second, there is this concept of the "pain body" which is all the accumulated pain I've experienced or absorbed in my life。 The more I can think of that pain body as separate from myself, the better。 The more I identify myself wi If my personality was water, this way of thinking is oil。 Not a fun read and felt very disorganized and a little fluffy。 I also felt parts were a little antiquated or even misogynistic。 But here are the few key points that resonated with me。 First, I am not my thoughts。 Second, there is this concept of the "pain body" which is all the accumulated pain I've experienced or absorbed in my life。 The more I can think of that pain body as separate from myself, the better。 The more I identify myself with my pain, the farther I am from recovering from it and achieving "enlightenment"。 Third, don't resist the reality of the now, even when it's not positive。 This doesn't mean give up, this means stop spending energy of resistance or anger that serves no purpose and put that energy into positive action。 And finally, and this was for some reason really poignant for me while listening to the audiobook in the middle seat of a Frontier flight sneezing in my mask and feeling particularly blah。。。。 there is no time besides the present。 Everything that has ever happened has happened in the present, not the past nor the future。 So the more I can actually pay attention to and embrace the present, the more full my life will be。 And that can and should start now, even if you're not in the most pleasant of present moments。 。。。more

This guide is a new must-read for me on at least an annual basis。 There were so many “aha” moments that I’m sure I didn’t catch all of them, so I look forward to what I discover on my next reading of this book。

This book is filled with great lessons。 Most I’ve heard before and have been working on。 But I would assume new concepts for many。 This book simplifies the concepts of being present and of surrendering through a question and answer dialogue。 This I found very helpful。 I often thought throughout the book that I will need to reread it a few times to really hone in on the skill of Being。 In theory it’s simple but implementation is a challenge especially with our preconditioned minds。 I highly recom This book is filled with great lessons。 Most I’ve heard before and have been working on。 But I would assume new concepts for many。 This book simplifies the concepts of being present and of surrendering through a question and answer dialogue。 This I found very helpful。 I often thought throughout the book that I will need to reread it a few times to really hone in on the skill of Being。 In theory it’s simple but implementation is a challenge especially with our preconditioned minds。 I highly recommend this book to anyone suffering from lack of joy and unhappiness, anxiety or worry, or depression。 。。。more
